A New Anonymous and Efficient Authentication Protocol for Vehicle-grid Environment

Abstract

With the rapid development of smart grid and electric vehicle technology, the vehicle to grid (V2G) technology based on the smart grid is also undergoing rapid evolution. Unfortunately, due to the existence of insecure communication channels and communication entities in the process of message transmission, the V2G networks will face huge security risks. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a novel anonymous and efficient authentication scheme using elliptic curve encryption (ECC). The proposed scheme can realize the secure communication between electric vehicles and charging stations. Next, the random oracle model (ROM) is used to prove the security of the proposed protocol. In addition, we also conducted an informal security analysis for the suggested protocol, and the related analysis results show that it meets all the security requirements for V2G environment. Finally, the performance evaluation results show that the proposed scheme offers advantages over other similar authentication schemes in communication and computational performance.
