Enhancing Media Content Moderation: A Reliable Blockchain-Based Mechanism using Hybrid Video Identification

Abstract

Content moderation has become increasingly crucial in the media industry due to the exponential growth of media content. Service providers encounter challenges in effectively managing their content moderation workloads and meeting strict deadlines. An issue of concern is the repetitive moderation of popular content, stemming from the lack of trust among service providers. To address this fundamental problem, we propose a new content moderation mechanism that leverages a permissioned blockchain. The main objective is to facilitate the secure and reliable sharing of moderation data among service providers. Additionally, we introduce a targeted moderation mechanism that incorporates hybrid video identification. This mechanism enables the identification of the same video across various formats and includes excerpts from original videos. Compared to traditional approaches, our proposed mechanism ensures the authenticity, integrity, and accuracy of moderation data. It significantly enhances moderation efficiency while minimizing the overall computational overhead. By adopting these innovative solutions, service providers can effectively address content moderation challenges, improving the overall quality and trustworthiness of the media industry.
