Abstract
Financial technology (Fintech) has differentiated itself from traditional financial services, with mobile payment services emerging as one of the most critical components. These services can rapidly acquire customers at low costs and are among the fastest growing in terms of innovation and the adoption of new payment capabilities. Utilizing a bibliometric keywords approach, this study conducted a comprehensive review of academic literature through Web of Science and VOS viewer (version 1.6.17), focusing on areas related to mobile payment platform applications. Furthermore, this study seeks to present a comparative analysis of users' intentions to adopt mobile payment platforms in South Korea and China, considering both the benefits and sacrifices involved. The research employs the Value-Based Adoption Model (VAM) and the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to reveal nuanced differences in perceived value and adoption attitudes across these dynamic markets. This research proposes a model encompassing benefit dimensions (perceived enjoyment, convenience, perceived ease of use, and perceived usefulness) and sacrifice dimensions (perceived risk, repulsion, and security concerns). A questionnaire survey was administered from February to March 2024 through an online survey system, resulting in 455 valid responses from Korea and 348 valid responses from China. The results indicate that both benefits and sacrifices significantly influence perceived value, adoption attitude, and intention to use mobile payment platforms in both markets, with the exception that security concerns do not affect consumers' adoption attitudes in the Korean market. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS 26.0 and Amos 28.0. This research is anticipated to provide foundational data for mobile payment platform researchers and contribute to guiding sustainable development of mobile payment platforms within the context of a circular economy.
