Optimizing Beamforming for Improving Secrecy Performance in Systems Enabled by Multiple Flying RISs

Abstract

The inherent openness of wireless communication environments makes signals prone to eavesdropping. Therefore, to enhance the security performance, this study explores several support systems involving flying reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS). These systems integrate unmanned aerial vehicles operating at high altitudes and possessing high mobility with low-cost RISs that offer high efficiency. Additionally, to maximize secrecy performance, both successive convex approximation and minimization-maximization optimization with penalty-based algorithms are introduced to optimize base station and RIS beamforming. The simulation validates that the performance of the proposed algorithm can surpass those of existing methods in terms of secrecy rate.
